The advancement of women and equality between men and women is an aspect of human rights and a condition of social justice and one of the objectives of sustainable development. Empowerment and gender equality are essential prerequisites for the country's political, social, economic, cultural and ecological security.

Indeed, the trajectory of the formal participation of Moroccan women in the political sphere has undergone several positive changes in recent years, but it nevertheless remains below the expectations of civil society and in no way reflects the commitment of women in development. economic and social situation in the country and their demand for a presence at all levels of decision-making power.

has.     Goals :

With the aim of strengthening the capacity for political participation of women involved in political parties, institutions and bodies – at national, local and municipal level, the Prometheus Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IPDDH) organizes 02 , July 3 and 4, 2021 - at the ibis-Rabat hotel - a national meeting on: "Women's leadership and political participation". Which was dedicated to elected women and candidates from different Moroccan political parties, and to civil society.

The work of this meeting included an opening seminar to be held on Friday, July 02, 2021, around the theme "Elections 2021, will they finally be an opportunity to boost the presence of women in institutions and representative bodies? ".

b.    Conference themes

The main focus of the conference is:

• To what extent will the new mechanisms approved by the legislator improve the representation of women in parliament, and their involvement in decision-making?

Will it be possible, during the next elections, to make up for the lack of access of women to decision-making positions, or will it generate, like the previous ones, only numbers of women?
