Description:

The Prometheus Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IPDDH) and the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) inquire about understanding and young people's perception of human security "تمَثُّلْ الشباب المغربي للأمان الإنساني", through an empirical study based on a sampling by quota method of 1300 young people at the level of nine (9) regions of Morocco.

The study provides insight into young people's views on various aspects of human security. It is based on the reference framework formulated in the World Report on Human Development published by the UNDP in 1994.

The objective of this unprecedented study is to measure the feeling of security and/or insecurity among young Moroccans by identifying their needs, their vulnerabilities, their capacities, and their root causes. In this perspective, the study focused on five dimensions of human security: family, economy, health, public space and politics.

Since May 2021, the Institute has indeed undertaken a field study, following a holistic approach that combined training process, listening process and discussions with young people from the Moroccan territory, about their perception of human security. .

The challenge is to offer a realistic image of Moroccan youth, making it possible to better understand the behavior of young people, the evolution of their mentalities, their relationships with the family, society, institutions and politics, their concerns and social, economic and political concerns, as well as their visions of the transition to adulthood.

By presenting the main data and results from this field study, the Prometheus Institute for Democracy and Human Rights intends to contribute to the debate that has been open since 2012 on the integrated national policy for young people. Indeed, through the crossing of rigorous social science methods, the concerns of public actors and associative commitment, this study constitutes a fertilization experience mixing scientific knowledge and action knowledge. The results of this study have were presented at a seminar, which was held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Hotel Farah- Rabat.
